Sydney, Australia

Updated: May 29, 2022

The beginning of the trip began as most vacations do… dealing with the nuisance of jet lag, while trying to adapt to new surroundings.

We spent our time in Sydney sightseeing and doing responsible things, such as sorting out banking, and booking travel & accommodations. I feel horrible saying this but it was the most boring part of my year.

Hands down.

No offence to Sydney and the surrounding areas.

I loved it all. Really, I did.

There was just something missing....

We were lucky enough to catch Australia’s biggest kite festival, the Festival of the Winds, on Bondi Beach. We Rollerbladed in Centennial Park… and I fell. We toured the Sydney Opera House, strolled along the harbour, oohed and aahed at the lovely Botanical Gardens, wandered through the NSW Art Gallery, got our photos taken at Mrs. Macquarie's Chair… we became one with the tourist trail...

Everything was new… everything was interesting…

I had NO idea what it was I was looking for, but I knew it was out there waiting for me… somewhere in Australia…

Surreal Moment...

"We went to see Four Weddings and a Funeral in the movie theatre. Weirdest theatre ever.

There are tables and chairs, to just relax! And drinks. YOU CAN DRINK while you watch the movie.

And...

... you can smoke..."

Being a professional smoker in 1994, this news filled me with a joy that I would never be able to relay to a non-smoker.

It was euphoric.

... and disgusting...
