My Absolute Favourites in the Entire World
“If I have ever seen magic, it has been in Africa.” John Hemingway.
Resting on the fine edge summit of the world’s most photographed dune, watching the sun come up in the Namib desert was a powerful, breathtaking moment. I felt that the only thing missing was 'Nessun Dorma' playing in the background. We all became one with the red and orange landscape.
They say that everyone that comes to Namibia must always return.
The sun shines so brightly here that it shines right in to your heart... and I believe it..
Often people ask me what my favourite country is.... and I find myself fishtailing around the question, commenting about different counties I have enjoyed... what they have to offer... etc etc...
Now... I have an answer.
Namibia.
I recently read in Brunelleschi's Dome: The Story of the Great Cathedral in Florence; "Even in an age of soaring skyscrapers and cavernous sports stadiums, the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence still retains a rare power to astonish."
It's true.
This cathedral almost knocked me off my feet when I walked around the corner and saw it there in front of me.
The size.
The grandeur.
The attention to detail.
Everything.
Magnificent doesn't seem an appropriate word.

The most beautiful drive I've ever seen. Breathtaking beauty around every corner.
Temple Mountain
This majestic mountain stands alone, towering over the Bow Valley.
The Penguins
South Africa.
Who would think there would be penguins in such a climate? But there are!
